This opera by Richard Strauss is a complex projection of the contemporary issues involving the creation, patronage and the art market. The conflict of the creator who wants to keep his work pure and intact, as opposed to the Maecenas, often omnipotent and rude. The main scenario is a spiral ramp that rotates in its axis, switching the perspective of a service area of a rich bourgeois home and the main hall of the house, the scene of an opera that takes place within the opera. The giant chandelier in the house is on the ground and alludes to the door of the Ariadne’s cave. There she awaits her lover forever.
