Sometimes the libretto and musical score seem to refer to such different universes, that they become the central issue to solve the set design. If, on the one hand, the libretto calls for doors, windows, staircases and balconies, so that the comic plot is developed with ease, the musical universe points to a transcendence that rarely leads to the desire for a realistic representation. We try to achieve this by drawing a functional space, creating a textured treatment on the walls so that, depending on the light, reveals a rough surface or an almost transparent watercolor.
