The entire performance takes place in an abandoned circus, where we can see the Duke’s entourage in a cortege. As a “Beauty and the Beast” in reverse – this time from the perspective from the father – a monster who precipitates the tragedy to protect the beauty from the beast. The circus tent is present in the entire performance as the oppressive sky, the overprotection of Gilda by her father Rigoletto.
